So, I was walking through the market just the other day,
And I happened to pass by this stall on my way. 
They had something that no one posessed on my block,
So I asked 'em: What is that? And they said:
Why, it's a nine pound rock!
It's a nine pound rock!
Yes a nine pound rock!

O.K. so what does it do?
Nothing mate, it's a rock!
And what's it good for?
Nothing mate, it's a rock!
So, what do I do with it?
Nothing mate, it's a rock!
So why do I want this?
Well, it's a nine pound rock!
It's a nine pound rock!
Yes a nine pound rock!

So, I said to myself not too sotto voce obviously,
These guys must be nuts! They wanna sell a rock to me.
And still there was something of some intrigue,
After all it was not that expensive and not really that big!
It was a nine pound rock!
Yes a nine pound rock!
T'was a nine pound rock!

So, you all guessed that right, now the looney is me,
'Cause I ended up buying that rock almost unwilingly.
And now I have something no one has on my block,
When visitors ask: What is that? I can say:
Why, it's a nine pound rock!
It's a nine pound rock!
Yes a nine pound rock!

And I can still hear those other loonies join me
When I reply to the multiple queries

O.K. so what does it do?
Nothing mate, it's a rock!
And what's it good for?
Nothing mate, it's a rock!
So, what do you do with it?
Nothing mate, it's a rock!
So why do you want this?
Well, it's a nine pound rock!
It's a nine pound rock!
Yes a nine pound rock!

After all this is said and done, I dare anyone
To say truthfully, that my rock has no mystery.
